2008 Larson Memorial Scholarships

The Larson Memorial Scholorship Awarded
The Larsen scholarship was established last year by “Les” Larsen’s widow, Sandra Larsen. Les Larsen was a charter member of AIA Northeast Illinois and was a long-standing, active member of the AIA at the local, state and national levels. The NEI Scholarship Committee reviews applicants and selects the recipient for the scholarship, which is administered by the DuPage Community Foundation.

University of Illinois at Chicago

Frederick Christiano of Palos Park expects to receive his master’s degree in architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago in May 2010. With an eye to current and future environmental challenges, Christiano already has begun the process of earning accreditation for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. He hopes to be able to apply this knowledge to urban residential projects. “I am very interested in the diversity of the city and how it accommodates the needs of individuals through how we live,” he said.
