To celebrate and promote the profession of architecture, provide opportunities for professional growth, and improve the built environment.

2008 NEI Committees and Knowledge Communities

NEI committees and knowledge communities are the backbone of the chapter and provide opportunities for members with similar interests to work together. Whether your interests are strictly professional (such as historic preservation, government affairs or the environment) or service oriented (such as scholarship, sponsorship or golf outing) there is a committee or knowledge community for you. Please review the following descriptions and let us know where your interests are. It’s easy to do, just complete the Committee questionnaire at the end of the committee descriptions or go online to let us know your committee or knowledge community interests. It’s your chapter, let us know your interests!

Feel free to contact the chapter office for more information.

Name:

Advocacy - Serves as a liaison between the architectural community and local, regional, and county government agencies within the chapter area.

Awards/Exhibition - Organizes and implements a program to recognize and celebrate outstanding examples of a specific focus of the built environment (i.e. historic preservation, pro bono work, residential solutions, urban design, liveable communities, etc.)

Continuing Education Programs - Responsible for creating, organizing and implementing the opportunities for NEI members to obtain the required CES Learning Units.

Golf Outing - Hosts a yearly event to give members an opportunity to entertain clients, develop relationships, and support the chapter’s scholarship fund.

Honor Awards - Responsible for the Chapter’s biennial honor awards program. The “Celebration of Architecture Program” is designed to honor design excellence, for projects created by chapter members and firms. The committee is responsible for collecting and organizing chapter submissions, as well as jury selection. The committee’s work culminates in a “Celebration of Architecture,” at the biennial Awards Program.

Membership - Seeks to expand AIA membership in all areas relating to the profession. Architects as well as those professions and businesses that architects typically work with have membership possibilities, and we all benefit from a stronger membership base.

Public Relations - Seeks to promote the AIA architect, as well as the profession of architecture, to the public.

Scholarship - Coordinates the chapter efforts, which support architectural education through the granting of designated chapter funds to local area residents pursuing architectural degrees.

Committee on Design - Promotes design excellence among members of NEI, the broader design community and the public at large, and also promotes activities intended to encourage a dialogue on the art of building.

Service Awards - Organizes and implements a program to celebrate and recognize outstanding service in the profession and community. Coordinating with the Fellowship Committee and ongoing monitoring of member achievements and activities will also be an activity within this committee.
