Aldi Corporate
Headquarters
A 67,250 sf expansion of the
US Corporate Headquarters campus for Aldi. The program for the
addition was to accommodate the space needs of the Corporate
Purchasing Group including offices, workstations, conference rooms,
sampling kitchen, supplier meeting rooms and support spaces. The space
in the existing building was then reallocated between the Corporate
Administrative offices and the Batavia Divisional offices. The
exterior of the addition was designed to complement the architectural
vocabulary of the existing buildings while providing a new clearly
identifiable main entrance. The interior space takes orientation
and view into account, as the corporate complex surrounds a landscaped
courtyard. The interior of the new lobby features granite
flooring with classic finishes to suggest a timeless, elegant
corporate identity. A new two-story glass lobby functions as a link
between the existing building and the similarly scaled addition.
The addition is rotated 90° to the existing building with both
framing a new landscaped courtyard visible through the glass lobby.
The owner required that the addition blend seamlessly with the
existing campus.
