Pool House

“We would like to add a family room, indoor pool with spa to our home and not impact our view of the landscape or ravine.”  Constructing a pool in a glass box attached to an art deco residence was the challenge.  A glass and masonry box, connecting exterior and interior environments year round was the solution.

A glass storefront with changing geometry reflects the ornamentation of the original home.  Channel glass provides special definition and view corridors, both inside and out.  The pool is part of, and compliment to, the natural environment of the ravine and private patio area with a connection to the gardens and sculptures.  A green roof restricts rain water discharge to the ravine and fritted glass skylights provide diffuse light to the interior spaces.  The north wall gradually changes from brick to glass reflecting the natural land form of the ravine and increases connection to the private yard.
